RegisterWeighting function, residuum, method of weighting residuaIf approximation of the solution is substituted to the solved equation, the solved equation is not met exactly. This fact is respected by adding a residual function to the right-hand side of the equation. In order to minimize the residual function (i.e., in order to get as accurate approximation as possible), the residual function is multiplied by a weighting function, the product is integrated over the whole analyzed structure and the result is put to equal zero. This algorithm is called the method of weighted residua. Back
